Wow, what a crazy article. The story sounds familiar, I feel like I’ve heard about it before in the news or something. It’s really strange that the relationship continued even after she found out that “Tommy” was made up, and then that last twist is a shocker, but also ironic and fitting. Good analysis and application of the Hyperpersonal model. I don’t think the modality switch research really applies here, but I’d still be interested to see how things might have been different if they had met FtF before the guy’s wife outed him.
